BECOME AN URBAN PARTNERSHIP TRUSTEE

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring and driven leader to join an organisation that brings connectivity, wellbeing, aspiration, and opportunity to the heart of the community it serves.

The Urban Partnership Group (UPG) is a community organisation offering a wide range of activities across hubs in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Based in the Masbro Centre, the Edward Woods Centre, and the Brook Green Children’s Centre, activities include those for older people, youth clubs, children centre services, educational and personal development courses, and careers guidance.

Through these projects we enhance the health, wealth, and wellbeing of our centre users.

WHAT IS THE COMMITTMENT?
The Board of Trustees provide support, and challenge constructively. They use their networks and knowledge to support UPG’s development and success. They ensure that we are delivering positive outcomes for the community and using our funds appropriately. They have a good grasp of the risks of an organisation like ours and monitor plans that we can put in place to manage them.

The Board meets four times a year for meetings which last up to 2 hours, and for the Annual General Meeting, typically held in November. We do our best to schedule these flexibly around our Board’s other commitments. We ask Trustees to commit to attending these meetings and to read the papers which are sent out in advance. We also encourage Trustees to visit our services, to meet our service users, volunteers and staff. We are looking for Trustees who can commit a minimum of 2 years to the role so that we can ensure continuity in our leadership.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
If you share our values of inclusion and empowerment (see website for more details), have the time to commit to this, and some relevant experience that will add value to the Board, we want to hear from you. We particularly welcome people with experience, contacts, or skills in any of the following areas:

  • Growing an organisation/fundraising (voluntary or private sector)
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing/Public Relations/communications
  • Facilities Management and sustainability strategies

We welcome interest from people who reflect our diverse service user, volunteer, and employee base, and we expect Trustees to live our values of diversity, inclusion, and equity. We are especially are keen to ensure that disability should not be a barrier to inclusion. Please do let us know if we might need to make any adjustments to facilitate your full participation. We have a clear policy and good practice in managing risk of any perceived or actual conflicts of interest. All Trustees are required to abide by the policy and register any possible conflicts of interests. If you think there might be a conflict of interest, please mention it as part of your expression of interest.
